Motivation: In the spring of 2022, I rescued a barely fledged starling. For four months, until he flew away to greet new adventures, Dino and I were inseparable. I watched and photographed him as he matured, constantly amazed by how ‘articulate’ he became with his body.

Idea: I set about capturing Dino’s ‘essence’ of striking movements and poses through photography and then linocut design. As I worked away, he would literally pick up my linocut pieces and fly off with them. I created a series of five greeting cards based on those linocuts, and then designed a repeat pattern for fabric.
