The robins of my youth in England were European ones… rounder, fatter, and just plain cuter than their larger, more streamlined North American cousins. I was inspired to create my roly-poly robins digitally, emulating the flat colour and simple lines of Tintin, but using only circular shapes. The fact that European robins are altogether more solitary birds appeals to my own reticent personality.
