Nature Card # 4 – Peony & Ant

Almost all the peony shrubs were here when we purchased the property (a disused Dairy farm of 17 acres) 21 years ago.

They are without doubt my very favourite flower to photograph. Early morning is best when they seem to be full of life and promise.

The ants protect the blossoms from other floral-feeding insects, the blossoms feed the ants, a win-win!
